Our 4 Phases of Coaching
Phase 1: The Learning Curve
Some people fly through this, and others need a little more time. This is where you learn new things about food, how to track, what’s a macro, what’s a micro and how they all fit within a healthy diet. You can expect weight loss to be a little slow while you learn to choose the right combination of foods to reach your nutritional targets. We focus on building a solid foundation with the basics of nutrition in this phase.
You can’t skip this step, otherwise you will go in weight loss and weight gain circles forever.
It is essential to be patient during this phase. Just like any new skill you learn you need to practice it, study it, and ask questions to gain an understanding. Once you master these skills they become habits and they fit much more effortlessly into your life.
Phase 2: Momentum
Once you’ve gotten past the learning curve, you’re more comfortable with tracking and reaching targets, and you’ll start seeing consistent results. We aim for an average of 1-2lbs of fat loss each week, as research shows this rate helps us avoid muscle wasting and is easiest to maintain, as long as protein targets are met.
We will get more detail-oriented with nutritional needs during this phase.
Phase 3: Reverse Diet
At this phase of our training, you’ve reached your body composition goal and now you need to regulate the metabolism again. Your body will be low calorie adapted from being in a deficit so we now have to slowly and gradually increase your Calorie intake while maintaining weight, up to an acceptable maintenance intake.
Phase 4: Maintenance
This phase is short in our program but hopefully represents the rest of your life. You maintain the HABITS you created throughout each phase but drop the short term tools you needed to lose weight and work on intuitive eating without tracking your food.
